Every driver has that moment where they swerve or brake suddenly to avoid an accident. The important part of that conversation is that the accident didn’t happen, but it could have. There are also many times when we can’t hit the brakes soon enough or can’t see a vehicle perfectly positioned in your blind spot. The 2020 Chevy Silverado 1500 has a variety of safety features to help protect you, passengers, and fellow Norfolk drivers.

Let’s Review a List of Chevy Silverado Safety Features:

Blind Spot Alert

The Chevy Silverado 1500 is a brilliant truck, but like any vehicle – it has blind spots. The Blind Spot Monitor will alert you using your side mirrors as a vehicle detector to help drivers potentially avoid a crash. For example, if you’re driving down a Virginia interstate and are looking to change lanes, your side blind zone alert will let you know now is not a safe time to change lanes.

Automatic Emergency Braking

When you’re cruising at speeds less than 50 miles per hour, this emergency braking system can alert you if it detects that a front-end collision situation may happen with another vehicle you’re following. At that moment, this system can also apply hard braking pressure if you have not already done so to avoid or mitigate collision damages. This feature is available on Chevy Silverado 1500 LTZ and High Country trim levels.

Adaptive Cruise Control

This is both a safety and technology features that will certainly enhance your 2020 Chevy Silverado 1500 driving experience. The LTZ and High Country are the only two trim levels with this feature at the moment, as well. Adaptive Cruise Control uses camera technology to detect traffic and speed levels around your pickup. As you are cruising down a Virginia highway, your vehicle will automatically reduce your need to cancel cruise control and choose a new speed. This pickup truck should be able to knock that our for you!

Rear Cross-Traffic Alert

Have you ever been backing out of a driveway or parking lot and onto a busy street? This task becomes especially difficult during peak lunch or commute hours. Now, your Chevy truck can alert you to detected left or right cross traffic. This would limit the stress of making sure you can safely back out of the driving or parking garage. This is a more widely accessible feature across Silverado 1500 trim levels. Those trims include WT, LT, RST, LT, LT Trail Boss, and LTZ. This feature is also standard on the High Country.
